It's shoulder length, dyed black, and thin. I hate my hair. It's gross looking. I've been trying to grow out the hair dye, and so far it's only grown out three inches, and my hair looks weird now.
Should I let it keep growing out or should I try to re-dye it? The last time I tried to dye it back to my natural color, it only worked on the roots. That was in August or July.
So what shall I do? I don't want my hair to be so damaged it falls out if I dye it, but growing it out is hell. And I would show you a pic, but the last time I did that, some skank told me I looked like a goth freak. =]
Oh, and my natural is medium brown. The black isn't as black as it used to be (it was seriously jet black). Now it looks like a light black, is that makes any sense. Should I try to dye it again? I want to, but then I don't want to.
What should I do with my hair? just wear yer hair up or something where they cant notice the roots. and dont die it.. especially not wit thin hair..itll all go bald....
just grow it out and itll become thicker. dont cut it or diie it. leave it alone. and tel that skank to eff off.
What should I do with my hair? well you should ask someone who works at a salon
i mean there problay going to know what to do
just do what you want to do and what makes you feel pretty
What should I do with my hair? well, you could ask your hair styler if they could give you a few tips, or you could just re-dye your hair, maybe to a blonde or something, and then just let it grow! Or just take out the dye (or try to) if you REALLY want your old brown colour back! Hope that this helps!
What should I do with my hair? keep it the colour you have, it will fade. DO NOT DYE IT! it will only do more damage. Here's the link to a pic i found, her hair looks thin, but she makes it look thick wiht her haircut%26gt;

By the way, if you HAVE TO dye it, use natural hairdye, that way it doesnt do as much damage.
What should I do with my hair? I noticed that you immediatedly stated that "I hate my hair", which answers my first question. So we won't consider black again.
You are dealing with exactly what I am dealing with just different colors. I am bleached blonde and have medium brown roots, very dark.
Factors to consider...Your long term plan intended to make you happy. You were a bit vague in sharing your goals.
For me, my medium brown roots can't be colored, only bleached. If I go darker, stripped bleach hair will look awful just as yours did when it only worked on the root.
I try to remind people that make overs and hair colors are great, most aren't prepared or patient enough and end up rushing things....
Anything you do at this point will look different on your roots and different on the black dyed hair. Since your colors aren't matching, obtaining an entire look seems impossible.
Choices:
1). Do nothing and work on growing it out. A few tricks I use are large ponytail holders, headbands, barrettes even strategically placed boby pins to alter and hide that line of demarcation. Just take care of it as it grows and keep up with trims every 6 weeks. If I had to vote, this would be my best advice.....
2). Hair color: the absolute worse 2 colors are a bad red and that dark black. I would not under any circumstances use hair color remover, you will be orange, and color correction then gets costly. The only way to remove them is with bleach. That might solves some issues but creates more. Anything you do will have to equal out the two different shades and Bleach is so damaging and flammable, lol...If you have a desire to be blonde that is a choice, not a good one, but one anyway. Within a few months you will be dealing with dark roots on blonde and that is just as bad, but its possible.
Hair color is a commitment,,,,
3) Another choice would be to get a frost, not with blonde but with a shade or two lighter. It just might, if done sparingly give you some blending to tone down that line....
I know that most cosmetologists say going darker is the easiest thing to do...Usually...Black hair color isn't even in the spectrum of natural colors so by far is hard to deal with and black hair rarely goes above orange.
Its so hard for me to say anymore about it because I haven't seen it, and I am not sure how bad the condition is, the amount of maintaince your wish to keep occuring, etc.
I would think on it and do what feels right for you. Definately see a stylist and ask the questions before any color application. Any time you sit in a stylists chair you are not chained there, asking questions, options, results, etc will either put you at ease, if it doesn't then simply excuse yourself and tell them you need to think about it. Don't be afraid, its your hair and you have to live with it.
Best of luck
