A few days ago, I used some Botanics semi-permanent hair dye and I could only see a slight difference in the shade of my hair. Does it depend on what brand I use or is it just my hair?
When I dye my hair, how come the end result is nowhere near the colour shown on the pack.?
Both. If your hair is really dark, you need to get your hair professionally dyed because all box dyes do is strip %26amp; damage your hair and give a bad result. Darker hair shades are much harder to dye a lighter shade therefore, more aggressive chemicals have to be used. The best thing to do in the future is contact a beauty salon and have your hair done by a professional. However, DO NOT try to re dye your hair right now unless you want to end up bald.

It could be because you keep the dye on your hair too long or short, or because your origional hair color is not the same as the model on the pack's origional hair color. (keep in mind that they can do stuff with computers to make hair color look different than it actually does. )

I don't think that it's ever going to be the exact shade that's on the box. I have died my hair and it was never the same color, close but not exact

u just gotta get used to it

The box is always wrong, probably because it's been digitally enhanced beyond recognition. If they have those little locks of hair on display, those are usually much more accurate.

color can not lift color which means if your trying to get a lighter color than your real color you can't unless you use bleach.if you are trying to change the tone than you can.porosity and tenacity have a lot to do with the hair holding on to the hair.

Botanics would suggest to me that it's an organic brand, which won't give you the same results as say Natural Instincts, which contains far more chemicals than natural ingredients. A semi-permanent color is pretty much what one could call a "color enhancer" rather than an actual dye. Your hair may also have something to do with it; fine hair doesn't hold "do it yourself" dye as well as coarse hair does, and like someone else mentioned, some of it really does depend on the timing.
